Trefethen Family Vineyards is looking for a full-time Lead Wine Educator. We are a family-owned estate vineyard and winery in the Oak Knoll District of Napa Valley. For more than 50 years, we have been crafting world- class wines with our own estate-grown grapes. We also have a legacy of hospitality, and are known for providing memorable and educational experiences for our guests. Position Overview Reporting to the Hospitality Manager and working alongside our Hospitality Supervisors, the newly created Lead Wine Educator position is a key member of our estate hospitality team. In collaboration with Hospitality Leadership, the Lead Wine Educator will assist with the training and execution of service guidelines across the team, with the goal of providing guests with exceptional service. This position is also responsible for educating and entertaining our guests, providing fantastic experiences, and generating wine sales and wine club sign-ups.
Essential Functions
- Share our story and our wines with genuine enthusiasm while engaging in authentic conversations with our guests.
- Partner with supervisor, management, and culinary teams to ensure quality and consistency of service.
- Support Hospitality Supervisors with execution of daily service.
- Assist with educating the team on standards of fine wine service and wine knowledge.
- Provide wine service and education for special events.
- Sell our wines and promote wine club membership.
- Communicate with leadership in a clear, effective and timely manner on all relevant items related to team members, as well as guest satisfaction.
- Assist with greeting guests at reception and coordinating tasting experiences.
- Accurately enter all transactions and customer information into our POS software.
- Assist the team with the daily setup and breakdown of tasting areas.
- Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
- Effective, courteous, and positive communication amongst internal and external guests.
- Passion for fine wine and hospitality with a strong attention to detail.
- Front of house experience and WSET 3 or Sommelier certification highly desirable.
- Previous experience in a similar role required.
- Ability to lead and educate staff on an ongoing basis.
- Ability to learn and become proficient with Commerce7, CellarPass and Microsoft programs including Outlook, Teams, Word, and Excel.

Working Conditions
- Must be available to work weekends, holidays and occasional evenings.
- This is an on-the-floor position with frequent standing, walking, and lifting.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Operate a desktop computer with keyboard and mouse, employing repetitive arm and wrist motions.
- Manual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items and work with the fingers.
- Specific vision abilities require close and distance vision.
- Stand for long periods of time, including serving guests in our outdoor spaces.
- Occasionally bend, stoop, reach, kneel, crouch, or climb stairs.
Pay Transparency Disclosure: The base pay scale offered for this position is $25.00-$27.00 with wine club commissions and bonus potential. This salary range represents what we reasonably expect to pay for this position. However, the actual pay rate will depend upon job-related factors such as overall qualifications, skills, experience, education, etc. The Company reserves the right to modify the range at any time.
