Production Assistant
Debevc Farms is 140-acre vineyard & beverage management company operating wine vineyards over a 12-mile radius across the Grand River Valley at 8 distinct sites. We farm from a central location near Geneva with a modern fleet of JD 5000 series tractors.
The Production Assistant will work directly with the farm manager to assist with all aspects of farm production including but not limited to:
-chemical & fertilizer application
-vineyard canopy management tools
-trellis/fence repair and maintenance
-annual vine in-row cultivation and hilling tools
-mechanical harvest of all sites and delivery to processing site.
-scaling and assembly of harvested fruit in wood bins,
-vineyard pruning and snow removal
-operation and oversight of temperature control wind fans
-seasonal bottling, mashing, & distillation at the farm process plant
- maintenance of vineyard equipment and tools and associated recordkeeping
Requirements, Physical Demands and Work Conditions
- must be able to lift and/or move up to 50-100 lbs.
- able to operate farming equipment and implements on flat land or hillsides
- wet/humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, farming chemicals and fertilizers
- requires working outside in all weather conditions, extreme heat and cold in some cases
- requires full mobility (walking, bending and stretching) in the vineyard on uneven terrain
- ability to work up to 6 days a week for 8-10 consecutive hours outdoors
- ability to work flexible hours depending on vineyard demands
Background/Experience/Skills Requested
A minimum of two years of direct experience in farm production and tractor/forklift operation is preferred, however not required.
