Job Description
We have an opening for a motivated Production Assistant at Red Tail Ridge (RTR) Winery. The Winery is located on the northwestern shore of Seneca Lake, in the Finger Lakes of NYS. We specialize is small lot production of still whites, pinks and red V. vinifera wines. The winery also produces a significant volume of bottle fermented sparkling wines. Current production is approximately 10,000 cases derived from 100% estate grown and vinted grapes. Red Tail Ridge is a two-time James Beard Award nominee for Outstanding Wine, Spirits or Beer Producer. RTR is also a 2025 Wine Enthusiast Wine Star Award Nominee. The winery is LEED Gold certified.
The production assistant will be an operations team member. The position will focus on hands-on wine cellar practices, participation in bottling and sparkling wine production, as well as assisting in warehouse and inventory management activities.
Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Cleaning/sanitation and maintenance of tanks and winery/bottling equipment
- Processing and proper maintenance/storage of in-process wines
- Assist with bottling and sparkling production procedures
- General winery sanitation
- Assist with all harvest and crush activities and cleaning procedures
- Assist in activities related to storage and management of wine and tirage in warehouse storage
- Assistant vineyard manager and crew with routine tasks when needed
Prior Experience, Qualifications and/or Skills:
- Prior winery and/or vineyard experience is desirable
- Prior experience with winery processing equipment operation and maintenance is also highly desirable
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Ability to repetitively lift at least 50 lbs.
- Good written and verbal communication skills required
Pay: $18.00 - $25.00 per hour
