We’re seeking an experienced Production Logistics Lead to join our close-knit team and help drive operational excellence in wine movement and production coordination.
Position Summary
The Production Logistics Lead plays a key role in coordinating the movement of bulk wine between multiple custom facilities to meet a fast-paced bottling schedule. This position serves as the primary communication hub between trucking companies, wineries, and the Navigator winemaking team—ensuring efficient, timely, and accurate deliveries.
This role requires exceptional communication, attention to detail, and organizational skills. The ideal candidate is proactive, dependable, and thrives in a fast-paced environment. The position reports directly to the Winemaker.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Coordinate trucking logistics between bulk wine sellers, storage facilities, and bottling facilities using multiple carriers and truck capacities.
- Communicate with custom wine facilities to schedule wine deliveries for storage and bottling blend preparation.
- Create and distribute weekly shipping summaries to facilities.
- Conduct weekly meetings with storage facilities to communicate shipment plans.
- Maintain the shared Smartsheets shipping schedule.
- Coordinate and occasionally perform bulk wine sample pick-ups between facilities.
- Organize and maintain the bulk sample inventory.
- Monitor bulk wine volumes at storage facilities to minimize headspace.
- Assist with end-of-month (EOM) bulk volume reconciliation across storage and bottling facilities.
- Participate in team efforts and perform additional duties as needed.
- Comply with all company safety and COVID-19 protocols.
Qualifications And Experience
- 2–4 years of related experience in winery operations, logistics, or production coordination (winery experience strongly preferred).
- Familiarity with wine tracking or inventory software preferred.
- Associate degree (A.A.) or equivalent experience.
- Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and proof of auto insurance required.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and Smartsheets.
- Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Professional attitude and strong work ethic.
Skills
Language:
- Ability to read and interpret documents, write routine reports, and communicate effectively with team members and clients.
Math:
- Ability to perform basic calculations involving weight, volume, and distance.
Logic:
- Strong common-sense decision-making and adaptability to changing tasks or priorities.
Computer:
- Proficiency with email, spreadsheets, and basic databases.
Physical Requirements
- Light to moderate physical activity.
- Ability to lift and move up to 40 lbs.
- Manual dexterity and adequate vision/hearing for office and field work.
Work Environment
- Indoor and outdoor environments with variable lighting, temperature, and ventilation.
- Exposure to machinery noise, fumes, and chemicals (PPE provided).
Schedule & Travel
- Monday–Friday, full-time schedule with occasional overtime.
- Local travel within Napa, Sonoma, Mendocino, and San Joaquin Counties.
- No regular overnight travel required.
