We’re now scaling production of our newest systems and we're hiring our first hands-on Hardware Engineering Technician to own builds end-to-end: from assembly to flashing, testing, QA, and keeping parts/inventory ready.
About the role:
- Full-time role at our San Francisco, CA office
- Comprehensive Health, Vision, and Dental coverage, and we cover 100% of the premium for you.
- We move fast, and you'll have a lot of autonomy/ownership over your work.
- Our team is close-knit & highly driven, you’ll work directly with our entire team
- We’re deeply motivated by the impact we’re making – every new system deployed means much less food that goes to waste, and many more people who are fed.
What you'll do:
- Build our camera systems end-to-end: mechanical + electrical assembly (fasteners, enclosures, cable routing, connectors)
- Flash/configure embedded computers: follow a computer-based workflow to image/flash devices and enter configs
- Test + QA: run standard camera/functional tests; perform basic mechanical/electrical QA; document results
- Troubleshoot + feedback: identify issues, do basic rework, and provide clear, detailed notes to engineering
- SOP execution + improvement: follow instructions precisely; help create/improve SOPs and checklists
- Parts + purchasing + inventory: order parts, communicate with suppliers, track shipments, manage BOM inventory, source alternates, maintain follow-ups to keep builds on schedule
What makes you a good fit:
- Process-oriented, skilled at following detailed build instructions to maintain consistent assemblies, and keep excellent records
- Significant experience assembling hardware and electrical/embedded systems
- Strong mechanical aptitude (use common tools safely, clean cable management, etc)
- General electrical skills (connectors, harness routing, safe handling)
- Very comfortable using a computer for technical workflows (click-through tools + typing configs)
- Can read mechanical drawings / build docs
- Highly organized and detail-oriented (especially with supplier relations and build schedule-critical tasks)
Bonus points:
- Familiarity with Linux computers
- Experience flashing software onto embedded devices (Jetson a big plus)
- Experience working with camera hardware in real-world, outdoor environments.
- Experience with creating and implementing thorough test procedures
- You aren't afraid of moving fast, and are comfortable with a lot of autonomy.
