Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Assistant Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will support the Head Chef in food preparation, menu planning, and maintaining high standards of food quality and presentation. This role is essential in ensuring smooth kitchen operations and delivering exceptional dining experiences in a fine dining or banquet setting.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation and cooking of high-quality dishes according to established recipes and standards.
- Manage inventory by tracking stock levels, ordering supplies, and minimizing waste.
- Collaborate with the Head Chef to develop new menu items that align with seasonal offerings and customer preferences.
- Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and maintain cleanliness in the kitchen at all times.
- Participate in shift management by overseeing kitchen staff during service periods, ensuring efficient workflow and teamwork.
- Provide guidance and support to junior kitchen staff, fostering a positive working environment that encourages growth and development.
- Help coordinate banquet services, ensuring timely delivery of food to events while maintaining presentation standards.
Experience
- Previous experience in food production within a restaurant or hospitality environment is preferred.
- Familiarity with inventory management practices and food management systems is a plus.
- Experience in shift management or team management is desirable, particularly in a fast-paced kitchen setting.
- Knowledge of fine dining standards and banquet service will be beneficial for this role.
- A passion for culinary arts and a desire to learn from experienced chefs is essential for success as an Assistant Chef.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $17.00 - $20.00 per hour
Expected hours: 32 – 48 per week
