Duties:
- Performs routine analysis utilizing appropriate distillation, titrimetric, and instrumental methods as required.
- Operates laboratory instruments such as an auto-titrator, refractometer, balances, foss integrator, and other instruments as required to perform duties.
- Enters test results into the laboratory information management system in a timely manner.
- Prepares chemical solutions used in the laboratory.
- Maintains appropriate documentation of all work performed in accordance with laboratory quality policies.
- Practices safe work habits and maintains work area and instrumentation in a clean and orderly state.
- Must maintain satisfactory attendance, including timeliness.
- Responsible for understanding and complying with applicable quality, environmental, and safety regulatory considerations.
- Supports the cellar operations by performing duties that include preparation of grapes and wine, tracking wine blends, maintaining and blending wine in preparation for bottling, evaluation, and preparation of oak barrels for wine tracking barrels and chemistry.
- Comply with all ASI and OSHA guidelines.
- Performs other work-related duties as assigned by the Supervisor including, but not limited to, sampling, cleaning, and special projects.
- Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
- One-year winery lab experience or cellar experience preferred
- Good interpersonal skills, proven ability to communicate effectively and work well with other employees
- Strong attention to details
- Ability to multi-task
- Skilled in adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing using whole numbers.
- Skilled in calculating percentages.
- Experience with MS Word and Excel.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions and ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
- Exposure to outside elements (heat, wet and/or damp conditions, cold).
- May require heavy physical work (lifting, bending, climbing, pulling, or squatting for long periods of time).
- Long hours during crush and peak periods (including all shifts).
