Position Summary
The Host at the Round Barn Estates is the first point of contact for guests and plays a key role in creating a welcoming, memorable experience. This position is responsible for greeting guests, managing waitlists and reservations, providing venue information, and ensuring smooth traffic flow throughout the property. The Host sets the tone for excellent service and represents the Round Barn brand with warmth, efficiency, and professionalism.
Key Responsibilities
Guest Greeting & Experience
- Welcome all guests with a friendly, engaging, and professional demeanor.
- Provide information about tastings, seating options, menus, and property features.
- Direct guests to appropriate service areas such as the tasting bar, seating areas, or event spaces.
- Maintain a positive and upbeat environment, even during high‑volume periods.
Service Support
- Assist with checking in groups, guiding tours, or directing event attendees.
- Provide menus, tasting details, and general information to guests as needed.
- Help maintain cleanliness in entryways, host stands, and guest waiting areas.
- Support general hospitality operations during peak service, including light bussing and clean up when needed.
Brand & Guest Education
- Develop knowledge of Round Barn’s wines, beers, spirits, and history to answer basic guest questions.
- Promote wine club, events, and seasonal offerings in a guest‑focused manner.
- Uphold Round Barn’s service standards and reflect the brand’s personality through communication and presentation.
Safety & Compliance
- Follow all alcohol service, ID‑checking, and age‑restricted area guidelines.
- Maintain a safe, organized host station and entry area.
- Report guest issues, safety concerns, or property maintenance needs promptly.
Qualifications
Required
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to multitask in a fast‑paced, high‑traffic environment.
- Professional, warm, and welcoming demeanor.
- Ability to work weekends, holidays, and event‑heavy days.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
Preferred
- Prior host, tasting room, or hospitality experience.
- Familiarity with winery, brewery, or food‑and‑beverage service settings.
- Knowledge of guest management or POS systems (training provided).
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand/walk for 6–10 hours.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs.
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors depending on seasonal operations.
- Comfortable working in a busy, fast‑moving environment.
