Winemaking Planner II
LangeTwins Family Winery & Vineyards | Acampo, CA
Full-Time | On-Site
Where great wine meets great planning.
At LangeTwins Family Winery & Vineyards, every bottle starts with a plan, and we’re looking for an experienced Winemaking Planner II to help keep our operations flowing seamlessly from harvest through bottling. This role is ideal for someone who loves translating winemaking intent into executable plans, thrives in a fast-paced production environment, and enjoys collaborating across cellar, winemaking, and bottling teams.
If you’re equal parts strategic thinker, detail-driven planner, and team leader, and you appreciate that great wine is made as much in spreadsheets and schedules as it is in tanks, this might be your next vintage!
What You’ll Do
As the Winemaking Planner II, you’ll own and manage the master planning schedule while supporting wine quality, operational efficiency, and cross-functional collaboration.
- Develop, manage, and maintain the annual master planning schedule from harvest through bottling.
- Create, update, and distribute a rolling six-week Cellar Activity Calendar covering bottling, filtrations, wine movements, shipments, and cellar priorities.
- Provide daily updates to the Cellar Master, communicate plan changes, monitor work order completion, and resolve production conflicts by adjusting priorities.
- Evaluate inbound wine shipments, bottling schedules, and preparation work orders to optimize tank utilization and cellar workflow.
- Manage and analyze wine losses, ensuring performance remains within established standards and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Maintain and reconcile the Vintages in Progress (VIP) system, including demand forecasting, actual bulk shipments, and bottling volumes.
- Collaborate with Winemaking to manage bulk wine availability, tank assignments, bulk sampling, and daily shipment coordination.
- During harvest, coordinate daily grape receiving with growers, cellar capacity, and winemaking approvals; actively participate in daily production meetings.
- Proactively identify operational risks or constraints and communicate solutions to leadership and cross-functional teams.
- Directly manage and develop reporting staff, including performance evaluations, coaching, training, and KPI development.
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Enology, Viticulture, Supply Chain Management, Business, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of experience in winemaking planning or production scheduling within a winery.
- Strong understanding of winemaking processes, including fermentation kinetics, press cuts, additions, cold stabilization, and bottling readiness.
- Ability to prioritize and sequence cellar operations based on wine condition, tank capacity, and labor availability.
- Proven leadership skills with experience mentoring and developing team members.
- Advanced planning, organizational, analytical, and project management skills.
- Ability to bridge winemaking strategy with day-to-day execution.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, forecasting, data analysis).
- Experience with winemaking, ERP, or production planning systems preferred.
- Strong mathematical aptitude and excellent written communication skills.
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred but not required.
