Job Description:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Provide leadership in the development and maintenance of a relevant Yuba College curriculum leading to participation and completion of Ag-Tech certificate and degree pathways.
Develop and systematically update course curricula to align with industry advancements, Ag-Tech advisory recommendations, and regional workforce needs.
Provide instruction in a variety of areas within Agriculture Technology and Sciences, including, but not limited to Agriculture Engineering, Agricultural Production, and emerging Ag-Tech fields. Sample topics include:
Precision agriculture and precision harvesting
Field and soil management (e.g., grading, surveying)
Farm equipment operation and maintenance
Agriculture fabrication and construction
Hydraulics/fluid power and fundamentals of electronics and industrial automation
Smart farming technologies, wireless control systems, and autonomous equipment
PLC programming, coding, troubleshooting, and automation systems
GIS applications for agriculture
Systems integration, network management, and information systems security
Database management and integration for agricultural operations
Robotics and sensor-based systems (e.g., Raspberry Pi, Arduino, microcontrollers)
Integrated systems/warehouse management technologies
Prepare complete course syllabi, outlines, and assessment materials, and collaborate on articulation and dual enrollment agreements with local colleges and high schools.
Utilize modern teaching methods, including applied lab experiences, industry-aligned projects, fieldwork, simulations, and online learning environments.
Adapt instructional strategies to accommodate varied learning styles and abilities to support equitable student success.
Teach day, evening, weekend, distance-learning, accelerated, or point-to-point courses as assigned.
Design, build, and test experiments for each laboratory assignment as needed in courses.
Provide hands-on learning experiences, including fabrication labs, robotics workshops, precision technology exercises, and agricultural equipment operation and manufacturing simulations.
Determine necessary equipment and materials for program to be offered.
Research, procure, and set up equipment for delivery of program.
Maintain, supervise, and track instructional equipment, technology systems, facilities, and grounds associated with the agriculture department.
Support, utilize, and integrate the college farm, land labs, and applied outdoor spaces into course instruction.
Collaborate with faculty, staff, and students across other career-technical programs on campus to support interdisciplinary learning and project-based education.
Advise and assist students in achieving program and career objectives, including industry certifications when appropriate.
Collect, track, and evaluate course- and program-level Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs).
Complete required reporting, including program review, curriculum updates, and departmental planning.
Provide guidance to instructional support assistants and supervise student workers.
Promote and recruit students from local high school agriculture programs and participate in outreach such as career fairs and industry events.
Maintain membership and participation in activities of an allied professional organization for continued professional development.
Work collaboratively with community organizations such as the Farm Bureau and agricultural industry partners.
Enhance cooperative relationships with local, state, and national agricultural industries to ensure program relevance.
Build and actively participate in the Yuba College Agriculture Advisory Committee.
Complete required reporting for student evaluation, instructional materials, purchasing, equipment tracking, and budget development. Support the supervising dean in collaborating with campus and community groups to provide programs and information relevant to student and community needs

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
The successful candidate, by the final filing date, must possess the minimum qualifications for instructors in Agriculture Engineering at California Community Colleges (all degrees and units must be from accredited institutions):
Master's in Agriculture Engineering (equipment and machinery, farm mechanics)
OR
Bachelor's in any agriculture discipline and two years of professional experience directly related to the teaching assignment
OR
Associate degree in any agriculture discipline and six years of professional experience directly related to the teaching assignment
OR
The equivalent
OR
Possession of a California Community College life credential in Agriculture
Desired/Preferred Qualifications:Preference may be given to applicants with:
Master's degree in agriculture, education with a specialization in industrial agriculture, or other approved related fields (including but not limited to agricultural engineering, agricultural mechanics, natural resources, viticulture, or related mechanized agricultural disciplines); or the equivalent.
Experience teaching in high school and/or post-secondary institutions.
Experience in industrial agricultural applications.
Professional experience with modern agricultural technologies, including drones, robotics, wireless controls, autonomous systems, precision harvesting, GIS, and digital agriculture platforms.
Ability to teach and apply network management, PLC programming, troubleshooting, and system integration in agricultural contexts.
Ability to drive trucks and trailer equipment and operate/maintain agricultural machinery.
Ability to construct agricultural structures and safely supervise fabrication activities.
Experience in advising or leading youth leadership programs such as 4-H, FFA, or other agriculture-related organizations.
Demonstrated leadership in working with business and industry partners to align educational programs with workforce needs.
Ability to identify and secure grants, donations, and other funding sources to support program growth and modernization.
Knowledge of external certifications that support employment pathways (e.g., equipment operation, precision ag systems, safety certifications).

Salary Range: $79,984 to $128,369 /YR. (Per Salary Schedule for Full Time Faculty)
