Door Peninsula Winery, located in Door County Wisconsin (in the Wisconsin Ledge AVA), is seeking a winemaker to join our established production team. You will work under our Production Manager and with our production staff. Our 2022 production was just over 70,000 cases. We make a diverse line up of wines that consist of fruit wines, traditional wines, blends, hard ciders, and meads. Our vineyard, production facility, and tasting room are located in Carlsville, Wisconsin. This position will focus more on fruit wine production and cider productions but will have a hand in all aspects.
Responsibilities
-Perform all aspects of wine and cider making from crush to bottling
-Learn and operate bottling machines and equipment
-Involvement in the vineyard especially around harvest
-Clean wine making tanks and equipment
-Help maintain an inventory of our existing wines
-Help plan and forecast ingredient needs and assist with ordering
-Opportunity to pitch and create new wines and formulas to add to our catalog of products
-Lab work
-Participate in monitoring fermentation activity and analysis/management of wines
-Maintain and sort data from winemaking trials, experiments and wine processing operations
-Help manage and maintain shared complex spreadsheets (mainly MS Excel)
-Participate in wine tasting and sensory evaluation
-Monitor wine quality
-Assist in any task production might require
Requirements
-Bachelor of Science degree in Enology, Viticulture, Fermentation Science, Chemistry, or a related field OR
-2 years working full time in wine and/or hard cider production
-Required to possess the color vision necessary to judge and evaluate wine color. Required to taste and evaluate wines
-Forklift skills a plus (will train)
-Valid driver’s license
-Ability to work a flexible schedule based on seasonal fluctuations
-Must be able to lift 40 lbs., walk, stand, or sit for long periods of time
-Skilled in the use of MS Word and Excel

Pay: $45,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
