This is a great job for anyone hoping to get experience with a diverse range of vineyards throughout the Central Coast sub-regions, and to work with premium winegrowers and multiple brands. This position is responsible for regular visits to our contracted grower vineyards in the Central Coast region, assisting the Viticulture & Grower Relations team with vineyard scouting, crop estimates, grape maturity sampling. This position will also assist with irrigation uniformity checks and data collection for ongoing vineyard trials. This position involves long drives and independent work. The ideal candidate must be a self-starter with a strong work ethic and good communication skills.
What We Will Ask You To Do
- Conduct field scouting for common vineyard pests, disease, and nutrient issues.
- Collect phenological data for entry and management.
- Assist Grower Relations team with maintaining grower database up to date.
- Assist with crop estimation process – cluster counts and data input.
- Assist with Irrigation Uniformity checks.
- Provide support to the Estate vineyard Team as needed.
- Provide logistical support at harvest as needed.
- Understand and follow all safety protocols as outlined in the company IIPP and as required by OSHA.
What You Will Need
- Viticulture or Plant Science coursework preferred.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Strong Computer skills, including Excel and Word, GIS software experience a plus.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record – may require the use of personal vehicle with mileage reimbursement.
- Wine Industry experience a plus.
- Must be a self-starter with strong work ethic – this position involves working independently for extended periods of time with expectations to remain on task.
- Good communication skills – verbal and written.
- Must be able to work outside for extended lengths of time during period of extreme weather.
