About
Dear Hiring Manager,
I am a Winemaker and Vineyard Manager with 16 harvests of experience, 15 years of cellar experience spanning the titles of Cellar Master, Production Assistant, Production/Facilities Manager for 2 sites (One Boutique Custom Crush and one Estate Facility), Assistant Winemaker, and current position of Winemaker/Vineyard Manager. My goal is to find a winery with a program that is also interested in innovation. I have a firm grasp of the winemaking process, but I do not have a stylistic bias. Due to my background in fine wine sales, I also have an in-depth knowledge and acceptance of many different wine styles. This allows me to focus on a single “house” style or approach each wine, harvest, and lot individually, while incorporating numerous techniques to achieve the highest possible quality and best representation of the vintage.
As an employee my "old school" work ethic, company, and brand commitment are strong. I am unafraid to try and even occasionally fail. However, I respect my work enough to know when to ask questions to prevent getting in over my head. I am comfortable operating on my own, as part of a team, leader of a crew, and as a decision maker. I’d like to be part of a team that holds timelines and goals of importance, while every person in the company, from the top to the very bottom, feels a sense of ownership and pride in the company and for the work they do.
I can contribute much more than wine making skills alone, I am also mechanically inclined and have done everything from repairing vehicles, pumps, hoses and tanks to mailboxes; in certain instances, I’ve been able to create tools to make processes operate more smoothly. Through my time on various winery sites I have become proficient in all winery operations, equipment and facility maintenance.
Having worked in all areas of the winery environment, (vineyard, hospitality, administrative, and production), I am not only well rounded but able to competently and confidently address any issues that may arise onsite. It is my passion and dream to make wine.
After the closing of production activities at White Oak, due to the winery not selling, I have been seeking out a long-term Winemaker position. Ideally, for the next 5+ years. During my search in 2019 I elected to help a friend out who needed someone with a diverse skillset, high level of experience and strong work ethic. In trade, I was able to work (daily) with some of the most highly regarded Winemakers in Napa Valley. These include Al Perry (Biale, Joseph Cellars), Bruce Regalia (Materra, Wild Diamond), and Heidi Barrett (La Sirena, Barrett and Barrett, Lamborn Family Vineyards). This has been a great learning experience and has expanded my winemaking “tool set,” further preparing me to meet any winemaking challenge and program.
Upon my relocation to Northern Arizona I was able to help further establish the winemaking program at 48/Merkin/Caduceus. As part of a two person management team I was able to stream line the operations under Maynard and his right hand Tim. All while working a year part time for Oak Creek Vineyards to help them establish their program. In December of 2021 I elected to move on from Merkin/Caduceus and build Oak Creek Vineyards to to the World Class Award Winning Winery it is today. Reflecting my special skillset and talent for growing wineries and vineyards into world class competitors.
Please let me know when there’s a convenient time for you to meet so we can discuss how our partnership can be beneficial to your winery.
Cheers!
Adam Gingrich
