Landscape and maintain property grounds using hand or power tools or equipment. Responsibilities include mowing, trimming, planting, watering, fertilizing, digging, raking, sprinkler installation, and blowing of leaves. Assures that the grounds and landscape always reflect the highest degree of quality and care at all times.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Follows safety policies and procedures for department as well as general winery safety protocols.

Reads and understands all Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).

Makes certain all equipment is operating in a safe manner.

Conducts and participates in safety trainings.

Grounds Duties:

Maintains a safe, orderly, and clean working environment.

Maintains schedules for planting, pruning, fertilizing, and pesticide application.

Cultivates and fertilizes lawns, plants, shrubs, and trees.

Plants seeds, bulbs, foliage, flowering plants, grass, ground covers, trees, and shrubs, and applies mulch for protection, using gardening tools.

Prepares soil for sowing seeds, waters turf and ornamental ground covers, and reseeds turf.

Mows grass weekly and performs weeding as required.

Prunes and trims trees, shrubs, and hedges, using shears, or pruners.

Rakes, mulches, and composts leaves.

Trims and picks flowers and cleans flower beds.

Provides proper upkeep of sidewalks, driveways, parking lots, fountains, planters, and other grounds features.

Blows and maintains driveways, building entrances and other assigned areas.

Performs regular inspections of grounds for cleanliness, appearance, safety, and quality of environment.

Uses irrigation methods to adjust the amount of water consumption and to prevent waste.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent required

Two years of landscaping experience

Fluent in English (reading, writing, and speaking)

Must possess a detailed knowledge and understanding of plants including perennials, shrubs, and trees

Proven success in hospitality landscape and design

Excellent organizational, communication and prioritization skills

Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm

Mechanical skills

Strong attention to detail

Clean driving record and valid driver’s license

Ability to solve problems

Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions and take direction

Ability to understand and perform basic math and basic measurements

Ability to work in small, confined spaces

Ability to work extended shifts

Punctual, dependable, and willing to work in all kinds of weather
