We are seeking an experienced Bookkeeper to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the winery’s financial records, ensuring accuracy in accounting procedures, and supporting the overall financial health of the organization. This role requires a passion for numbers, extraordinary attention to detail and organizational skills, and a keen interest in the wine and/or agricultural industry.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. **Financial Record Keeping
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger entries.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.
2. **Inventory Management
- Track and manage wine inventory costs and ensure proper recording of inventory movements.
- Collaborate with production and sales teams to maintain accurate inventory valuation.
3. **Payroll & Tax Compliance
- Process payroll, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Handle sales tax filings, excise tax reporting, and other regulatory financial obligations related to the wine industry.
4. **Budgeting & Forecasting
- Assist in creating and monitoring budgets and financial forecasts.
- Provide financial insights and analysis to support strategic decision-making.
5. **Accounts Payable & Receivable
- Manage supplier invoices, payments, and customer billing.
- Reconcile bank statements and resolve any discrepancies promptly.
6. **Customer Service Support
- Help answer phones and assist customers during busy times.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Education: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of bookkeeping experience in the wine industry.
- Technical skills: Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero) and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel).
- Certifications: Certified Bookkeeper (CB) or similar credentials are advantageous.
- Knowledge of wine industry: Familiarity with wine production, inventory, and tax regulations is needed.
