Join VARA as a Tasting Room Lead Server at our Santa Fe Tasting Room under the guidance of our Tasting Room Manager. The Lead Server supports the Tasting Room Manager with opening and closing duties. Displays enthusiasm about wines and spirits and leads with a positive, team-oriented attitude. Ensures all staff are well-trained and emphasizes maximum sales opportunities. Monitors reservations and assists with the maintenance of proper inventory levels. Performs all duties in a positive manner with the intent to contribute to VARA’s purpose: “To sell more wine and spirits profitably while creating unique and memorable experiences for our customers.
In this dynamic role, you’ll be an integral part of our tasting room team, providing guests with memorable experiences as they explore our unique offerings. Your excellent wine and spirits knowledge will allow you to make personalized recommendations, enhancing our guests' enjoyment of VARA’s selections.

Responsibilities will include:
- Train serving and kitchen staff on Vara’s culture and Core Values
- Understand and perform cash handling and opening/closing procedures
- Ensures that guests are treated with exceptional customer service
- Responsible for ensuring the facility is organized and presentable
- Ensures wine, spirits, and merchandise are always available
- Possesses knowledge of VARA as a brand, their wines and spirits, and recommends products to customers
- Has a solid understanding of wine club and the ability to promote memberships
- Regularly hosts guests for seated, elevated experiences and walk-in tastings
- Greet all guests timely in a welcoming and friendly manner
- Determines if guests are VARA Wine Club members, general public, or have a reservation for a seated tasting
- Explains experiences and directs guests to specific tasting areas
Requirements:
- 21 years of age or older
- Alcohol server permit and food handler’s certificate
- 1+ years experience working in a tasting room OR restaurant with diverse wine list
- Strong ability to speak confidently about Spanish wines, or willingness to learn
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs and be on feet for 8 hour shifts
