Role Description The Vineyard Technician is a full-time, on-site role located in Seneca County, NY. This role involves performing daily vineyard tasks such as pruning, canopy management, trellising, irrigation checks, and monitoring vine health throughout the growing season. The Vineyard Technician assists with pest and disease management, soil and leaf sampling, and supports harvest operations, including grape picking and transport. The role may also include basic equipment operation and maintenance, record-keeping related to vineyard activities, and collaborating with the winemaking team to ensure high-quality fruit production. The position requires working outdoors in varying weather conditions and supporting occasional weekend or seasonal peak work as needed.
Qualifications
- Experience or strong interest in vineyard work, agriculture, or horticulture, with the ability to perform physically demanding tasks and work outdoors.
- Basic knowledge of vine growth, plant health, and sustainable farming practices, or willingness to learn through on-the-job training.
- Comfort operating or learning to operate small vineyard machinery and tools, with attention to safety procedures.
- Strong observational skills for identifying vine health issues, pests, or disease, and accurately reporting findings.
- Reliable time management, ability to follow instructions, and capacity to work both independently and as part of a small team.
- Clear communication skills and a collaborative attitude for working with vineyard, cellar, and tasting room staff.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to the vineyard site.
- Previous experience in viticulture, farming, landscaping, or related fields is preferred but not required.
