Crafted Artisan Meadery is on the hunt for a passionate and experienced Brewer/Winemaker/Meadmaker to join our growing production team. This is a rare opportunity to get your foot in the door with an award-winning, nationally recognized meadery.
We are looking to add a dedicated production team member who has a deep understanding of fermentation science and hands-on expertise. While this position focuses on the daily execution of our high-quality production, we view this as a high-potential role. Key Responsibilities:
- Execute mead production: Perform daily cellar duties including raw material processing, fermentation management, racking, filtering, carbonating, and packaging.
- Ensure product quality and consistency: Follow rigorous quality control (QC/QA) protocols, including sensory evaluation and basic lab analysis, to guarantee high-quality, consistent meads every time.
- Maintain equipment and facility: Ensure all production equipment is properly operated, cleaned, sanitized, and maintained. Uphold the highest standards of cleanliness and organization in the meadery.
- Optimize production processes: Collaborate with the team to identify areas for improvement in efficiency, yield, and cost-effectiveness.
- Adhere to safety and regulatory standards: Ensure strict compliance with all safety protocols and industry regulations (e.g., TTB, FDA).
- Contribute to recipe innovation: Assist in the development of exciting new mead recipes and styles, from pilot batches to full-scale production.
- Manage inventory and record-keeping: Maintain accurate, real-time records for production batches, raw materials, and finished goods.
Desired Qualifications:
- 2-3 years of professional commercial production experience (brewing, winemaking, or cidermaking).
- Solid understanding of fermentation science, yeast management, and microbiology.
- Familiarity with standard cellar operations (pumps, filters, cleaning cycles).
- Strong knowledge of quality control principles (e.g., sensory analysis, pH, specific gravity).
- Proficiency in operating, troubleshooting, and maintaining brewing/winemaking equipment.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and record-keeping skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with production management software (Ekos, for example) is a plus.
- Mechanical aptitude for troubleshooting and basic repairs.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for extended periods, walk, lift, bend, and move heavy objects (up to 55 lbs regularly, occasionally more with assistance).
- Ability to work in varying temperatures and environmental conditions (wet, hot, cold).
- Comfortable working with chemicals (cleaners, sanitizers) and following safety protocols.
