WINE CELLAR MASTER
von Trapp Family Lodge & Resort – Stowe, Vermont
von Trapp Family Lodge—known for Austrian-inspired hospitality, Old World craftsmanship, and an elevated food and beverage experience—is seeking an experienced Wine Cellar Master to lead and enhance our wine program across the property.
We are looking for a passionate, organized, and guest-focused professional to steward our wine collection, curate memorable experiences, and guide our team in delivering exceptional beverage service.
Position: Wine Cellar Master
Location: Trapp Family Lodge, Stowe, VT
Sommelier certification preferred
Responsibilities
Guest Experiences
- Lead wine tastings for guests, members, and private groups
- Design and execute wine dinners and pairing events in collaboration with the culinary team
- Serve as the resort’s wine ambassador with an approachable, knowledgeable presence
Program Leadership
- Develop and maintain wine lists and pricing for all resort dining outlets
- Create wine pairing recommendations for seasonal menu updates
- Manage all wine costing, inventory systems, and budget controls
- Order, receive, and properly store wine while maintaining cellar organization and standards
Team Training
- Provide ongoing wine education for front-of-house staff
- Host tastings, seminars, and service training to improve product knowledge
- Support the development of a strong beverage culture across the property
Qualifications
- Sommelier certification or formal wine education preferred
- Proven experience with wine service, selection, and cellar management
- Background in hospitality, fine dining, or resort environments
- Strong communication and teaching skills
- Exceptional organizational abilities and attention to detail
- Ability to collaborate with culinary, beverage, and service teams
- Professional, warm, and guest-focused demeanor consistent with Trapp Family Lodge standards
