JOB SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Vineyard Manager, the Vineyard Foreman performs and oversees various vineyard operations including frost protection, vine irrigation, maintenance and troubleshooting of the irrigation system, operation of vineyard equipment (tractors, Forklifts, ATV’s and implements) for mowing, cultivation, harvesting, pest control and other vineyard tasks which may be assigned on a seasonal basis.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Responsible for training new workers.
- Assist the Vineyard Manager in the supervision of seasonal workers in the performance of important vineyard operations, such as training of young vines, pruning and harvest.
- Assist the Vineyard Manager achieve or exceed budgetary and wine grape quality goals.
- Ensure that the work of regular vineyard staff and seasonal workers is performed safely, efficiently and in keeping with the highest quality standards.
- Provide close supervision of FLC (Farm Labor Contractor) crews and validate piece rate counts.
- Assist the Vineyard Manager in maintaining high standards in the production of quality wine grapes and operations of Company vineyards.
- Oversees equipment maintenance and repairs, the movement of equipment around the ranch and between various ranches.
- Pick up needed supplies, materials, and parts as needed.
- Keep shop, equipment, and all work areas clean and free of unnecessary items.
- Report on all other maintenance or safety issues promptly.

QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Must be 18 years or older at time of hire.
- Four or more years of relevant vineyard experience.
- Basic math skills.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated experience in promoting a positive, efficient, and safe work environment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Position requires significant travel between vineyards.
- Primary work activities are in the environmental elements.
- Employees are exposed to wet or humid conditions.
- Exposed to inclement seasonal weather, summer heat, cold weather, rain, etc.
- Must be able to move and lift 50 lbs.
- May be exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes, or airborne particles, farming chemicals, and fertilizers.
COMPENSATION
- Hourly Pay Range Posted: $23.08 - $34.62/hr.
- Actual compensation will be based on factors such as experience, skills, knowledge and abilities, education, and other position-related factors.
