Job Overview
We are seeking a hardworking individual to join our vineyard management team. This role is essential in maintaining the health and productivity of our vineyards. Candidates should be able to work outdoors and be familiar with, or willing to learn, about the maintenance of a wine grape vineyard. An interest in sustainable agriculture is a plus! Candidates will learn a variety of skills related to vineyard management. This position is part time (up to 12 hrs/week, flexible schedule, no benefits) but the right candidate has the potential to move into a full time position with benefits in 2026.
Duties
- In September through early December, assist in a variety of activities on the vineyard to prepare for winter. Activities may include vineyard floor management (mowing, weed eating, application of fertilizer), deer fence/electric fence repairs, trellis repair and line running, hauling, post installation, and more).
- Operate and maintain farm machinery, including tractors and other heavy equipment.
- Perform regular maintenance on equipment and tools to ensure optimal performance. In December, general cleanup and winterizing of the heavy equipment in preparation for overwinter storage.
- Utilize hand tools and power tools for various vineyard tasks.
- Support installation of above-ground irrigation hoses and drip systems along vineyard rows and clearing the system in preparation for winter.
- Conduct basic site management activities on the vineyard, in the winery, and in the workshop. Activities may include equipment repair, organizing, tidying and organizing, and clearing of disused materials for trash pickup.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
Qualifications
- Proven ability to work unsupervised.
- Basic mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot and repair equipment and machinery.
- Proficiency in operating tractors and/or skids is a plus.
- Basic knowledge of agricultural practices is a plus.
- Ability to safely lift up to 50 pounds as required throughout the workday.
- Ability to safely work on uneven ground.
- Effective communication in any of the following: English, French, American Sign Language (ASL)
- Must be legally permitted to work unrestricted in the U.S.
- Previous experience in farming or agriculture is highly desirable.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
