Job Overview
Are you looking to take an adventure and help grow a vineyard from ground up? We are looking for someone who is willing to take a chance on a new vineyard in Middle Tennessee growing both vinifera and hybrid grapes.
The Winemaker is responsible for overseeing the wine production process, from grape harvesting to bottling. The Winemaker ensures that the quality and taste of the wine meets or exceeds the desired standard. They collaborate with vineyard manager and staff to manage the production process and monitor the wine's aging process. The Winemaker is also responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with suppliers, managing inventory, and ensuring regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
· Oversee and manage the wine production process from grape harvesting to bottling
· Create and manage a wine production schedule that includes grape harvesting, fermentation, aging, and bottling
· Collaborate with Vineyard Manager to ensure the quality of grapes and production techniques
· Monitor the aging process of wine through regular tasting and analysis
· Create and manage wine blends that meet the desired taste and quality standards
· Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers to ensure quality grape sources and equipment
· Manage inventory and production costs to ensure profitability of wine production
· Assist with design and construction of winery facilities
· Ensure regulatory compliance with state and federal laws governing wine production and labeling
· Create and manage budgets
Qualifications and Skills
· Bachelor's degree in Enology, Viticulture or related field
· Proven experience as a Winemaker, preferably at a high-end winery, with minimum 7yrs experience
· Excellent palate and sensory evaluation skills
· Strong communication and leadership skills
· Ability to manage a team and work collaboratively with other departments
· Knowledge of wine regulations and labeling requirements
· Flexibility to work long hours during harvest season
Physical Demands; ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand or walk for extended periods of time and in all weather conditions
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $75,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
