Black Family Hospitality Management is a rapidly growing hospitality company dedicated to delivering exceptional guest experiences across our portfolio of properties. We are expanding our boutique wine operations in the heart of the Texas Hill Country, dedicated to crafting exceptional wines and delivering a world-class guest experience. As we add to our vineyards under ownership and production facilities, we are seeking an experienced Director of Wine Operations and Hospitality to join our growing team. This key leadership role will oversee all aspects of wine sales, hospitality, and operations, ensuring seamless integration between production, sales, and customer engagement.
The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of wine operations, sales strategies, and the financial and regulatory aspects of the industry, including tax compliance related to wine sales. This role will be responsible for driving both direct-to-consumer (DTC) and on-premise sales, enhancing our guest tasting experience, and growing our wine club and brand loyalty.
Duties/Responsibilities
Sales & Marketing
- Develop and implement a comprehensive sales strategy for DTC, wholesale, and on-premise channels.
- Oversee wine club membership growth and retention strategies.
- Work closely with distributors, retailers, and restaurant accounts to expand brand presence.
- Manage pricing, promotions, and compliance for all sales channels.
- Analyze sales data and adjust strategies to maximize revenue.
Operations & Compliance
- Oversee inventory management, order fulfillment, and compliance with TABC and federal tax regulations.
- Ensure accurate tracking and reporting of sales, shipments, and excise taxes.
- Collaborate with winemaking and production teams to align product availability with sales demand.
- Maintain licensing and regulatory compliance for all sales and hospitality operations.
Hospitality & Guest Tasting Experience
- Elevate the tasting room experience to drive sales and wine club sign-ups.
- As needed, train and lead hospitality staff to deliver exceptional customer service.
- Develop and execute events, private tastings, and experiences that enhance brand loyalty.
- Implement hospitality best practices that increase visitor conversion rates. Leadership & Brand Growth
- Serve as a key ambassador for the brand, engaging with customers, media, and industry professionals.
- In the future, lead and mentor a team across sales, marketing, and hospitality functions.
- Develop and manage budgets, forecasting, and business planning for sales and operations.
- Represent the winery at trade shows, events, and industry gatherings.
Required Skills/Abilities
- 5+ years of experience in wine sales, operations, or hospitality, preferably in a boutique or growing winery.
- Strong knowledge of Texas wine laws, sales tax, and compliance related to alcohol sales.
- Experience in DTC sales, e-commerce, wine club management, and on-premise account development.
- Proven leadership skills with experience managing cross-functional teams.
- Ability to analyze financial reports and sales data to inform business decisions.
- Strong communication skills and a passion for hospitality and wine education.
- Experience planning and executing wine events and guest experiences.
- Knowledge of POS systems, CRM tools, and inventory management platforms.
