Summary
The Tasting Room Manager (TRM) is a dynamic position that will play a key role in building and growing the MBV brand. The TRM will lead and manage the day-to-day operations of the Tasting Room to ensure an unforgettable experience for all guests. The TRM will collaborate with the MBV team on building a strategic vision for sales generation and achieving revenue goals, and provide leadership to the Tasting Room staff. This position assists in all aspects of the guest experience, including conducting tours, holding tastings, providing wine education, and completing retail sales. This position also actively participates in special events including off-site consumer tastings, wine club activities, and other guest experience tasks.
The successful TRM will be a team player and possess strong leadership, communication, and organization skills. The TRM will be a leader in developing positive and professional relationships with guests and staff and become a passionate ambassador of the MBV brand. This is a public-facing position, and the TRM must maintain positive and respectful interactions with guests, as well as understand and uphold all policies and procedures and ensure the safety of both guests and staff.
Essential Duties, Tasks, And Responsibilities
- Deliver a positive, memorable experience to all Vineyard guests and develop strong relationships to promote visitation.
- Organize and supervise all day-to-day operations of the Tasting Room, including managing daily opening and closing tasks, cash accounting and reporting, and ensuring all spaces (including restrooms, outdoor spaces, etc.) are neat and clean throughout the day.
- Lead the daily activities of the Tasting Room to achieve revenue and sales goals and ensure the highest level of service.
- Manage and coach the Tasting Room staff to ensure consistent, personal, and memorable guest experiences that encourage returning customers and positively reflect the MBV brand.
- Ensure all Tasting Room staff are thoroughly trained in daily job duties, MBV policies and procedures, safety protocols, and the MBV brand. Actively coach staff and encourage constant growth in knowledge of wine, the MBV brand, and hospitality skills.
- Collaborate with Leadership and HR to manage hiring and terminating Tasting Room staff, conducting performance evaluations, and executing disciplinary actions when needed.
- Coordinate Tasting Room coverage to ensure adequate staffing at all times.
- Establish an atmosphere of innovative and engaged teamwork, foster positive employee relationships, and actively promote and recognize staff achievements.
- Host tastings and educate guests about wines, the Vineyard, and the MBV brand.
- Design and maintain attractive, effective displays of wine, gift items, and other merchandise, and monitor inventory. Manage restocking and collaborate with Leadership on new Tasting Room products.
- Promote the Wine Club (Club Cooper), support Wine Club membership development and retention, process new memberships, and provide customer support assistance to all members.
- Assist with Vineyard special events, including scheduling, coordinating, and managing event staff.
- Assist with managing off-site events, including coordinating staffing and traveling to attend off-site events as an MBV representative.
- Collaborate with Leadership to create and implement strategies to attract and retain new customers and drive traffic to the Tasting Room.
- Collaborate with Leadership on creating and monitoring sales goals and implementing new sales strategies.
- Other duties as assigned.

- An excellent grasp of technology which can include: MS Office Suite, winery POS software (Com7 and VENTURA)
- Strong management skills with a focus on staff development and mentorship.
- 3+ years of hospitality management experience.
- WSET Level 2 or higher certification.
- Must be 21 years of age or older.
- Ability to stand for 8 hours and lift 50 lbs.
- Flexibility to work weekdays, weekends, holidays, and occasional evenings.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to stand for 8 hours as well as lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to work weekdays/weekends 9:00 am – 6:00 pm, with flexibility to work occasional holidays and evenings.
Compensation
$50,000 - $65,000 DOE
Position is eligible for participation in certain incentive bonus programs that may be made available by Mountain Brook Vineyards in its sole discretion from time to time.
