Position Overview:
WineAmerica is seeking a dynamic and strategic leader to join our team as the Director of Membership Development. This new position is a unique opportunity for an experienced advocate to drive membership growth, engagement, and satisfaction within an exciting and evolving industry. The Director will play a critical role in expanding our national network, strengthening relationships, and shaping politics that support the interests of American wineries.
Key Responsibilities:
– Membership Growth and Development: Lead and execute initiatives to grow membership through strategic outreach, innovative programs, and targeted recruitment. Build relationships with winery owners, industry partners, and regional associations to increase member participation.
– Member Engagement and Retention: Design and implement strategies to enhance member engagement, ensuring WineAmerica remains the go-to resource for advocacy, education and networking. Foster a community where members feel supported and involved in our mission.
– Advocacy and Policy Support: Collaborate with the government affairs team to keep members informed about policy issues impacting the wine industry. Develop strategies to engage members in advocacy efforts, empowering them to make their voices heard.
– Strategic Partnerships: Cultivate partnerships with wine-related organizations, suppliers, and service providers to deliver valuable benefits to members. Leverage these relationships to create unique opportunities for WineAmerica and its members.
– Leadership: Coordinate with senior leadership to set goals and drive the organization’s strategic vision forward.
Qualifications
– Passion for Advocacy: A strong background in advocacy, public affairs, or association management with a passion for promoting and protecting industries. Experience within the wine, alcohol or agricultural sector is a plus.
– Membership Development Expertise: Demonstrated success in membership growth, engagement, and retention strategies. Proven ability to develop programs and initiatives that attract and retain members.
– Exceptional Communication: Excellent verbal and written communications skills, with the ability to inspire and engage diverse audiences. Skilled in public speaking, negotiation, and relationship building.
– Strategic Visionary: Ability to think creatively and strategically about growth opportunities, while also managing day-to-day operations. A results-oriented executive who can set goals and achieve them.
– Leadership Experience: Demonstrated experience in association management, public policy, or a related field, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.

Compensation Package
Annual Base Salary: $75,000 - 85,000 depending on experience and qualifications. Performance-Based Bonuses:
– New Member Acquisition Bonus:
–Tier 1: $1,500 bonus for reaching 40 new members per year
–Tier 2: Additional $3,000 bonus for reaching 75 new members per year –Tier 3: Additional $5,000 bonus for exceeding 100 new members per year
– Member Retention Bonus:
–Up to $3,000 annually based on achieving a retention rate of 90% or higher
–Revenue Growth Bonus
–Bonus equal to 7% of any increase in membership dues revenue exceeding $30,000 over the previous year, incentivizing both acquisition and retention.
