Simple Theory Wine Co. is in search of a full-time DTC Sales Manager for its downtown Frederick location. You will be responsible for overseeing and managing several direct-to-consumer sales channels including the tasting room operations and customer experience, wine club growth and allocations, executing intimate educational events, fulfillment of online orders, and driving revenue growth through multiple direct-to-consumer channels. Who we are: Simple Theory Wine Co. is a contemporary expression of winemaking rooted in three generations of Maryland vintners. Our thoughtful approach to the art and science of winemaking allows us to craft refined, sustainably produced, small-lot wines.

Job Duties:

Assemble and train a high-performing Tasting Room team
Manage inventory and merchandise wine and products in an attractive, effective, and functional manner
Track sales and expenses for all products
Manage daily consumer activities at the Tasting Room, including greeting visitors, providing tastings, wine education, and staffing events
Drive wine sales and club acquisition across all sales venues
Maintain excellent customer service while up-selling wines and memberships
Collaborate with sales, distributors, and winery staff
Assist with wine club shipment processing and pick-up orders
Act as Brand Ambassador at the Tasting Room and outside events
Identify successful strategies and implement tactical plans
Manage Point of Sales operation and Commerce7 backend
Mentor and review staff, address complaints, and resolve conflicts
Schedule and conduct staff meetings
Execute best-in-class tasting experiences and events
Elevate staff's wine knowledge
Ensure appropriate staffing and schedules
Perform retail operations tasks

Job Qualifications:

Two years prior experience managing a winery, DTC sales team, or a related hospitality field
High school diploma or equivalent required, bachelor's degree in business or a related field highly preferred
WSET Level 1 or similar wine training highly preferred
Passion for Maryland wine, educating customers, and elevated food pairings
Consistent weekend availability required
Professional appearance and demeanor
Excellent communication and leadership skills
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to build and maintain relationships with clients
Self-directed and motivated
Ability to be tactful, diplomatic, and courteous even in stressful situations
Ability to balance multiple priorities and details simultaneously with maturity and self-confidence
Ability to speak effectively before diverse groups of customers
Ability to carry up to 45 lbs (one case of wine)
Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and CRM software (Commerce7, MailChimp, RedChirp)
Must be eligible to work in the United States and have original, unexpired documents to verify eligibility.
