Vineyard Worker

A Vineyard Worker at Orfila contributes to cultivating and caring for our vineyard and grounds. This role involves hands-on tasks to ensure the health and productivity of our vines, from planting to harvesting to maintaining the beauty of our grounds.

THE DUTIES OF A VINEYARD WORKER WILL INCLUDE, BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:

Plant vines and other plants using hand tools and farm machinery.
Build trellises to support climbing vines.
Operate farm equipment to cultivate, fertilize, and prepare soil for optimal growth.
Perform general maintenance and upkeep of grounds to ensure a clean and welcoming environment.
Maintain cleanliness by collecting and disposing of trash, with a focus on guest-facing areas.
Address and manage erosion issues to maintain the integrity of the landscape.
Implement weed control and abatement strategies to ensure a tidy and well-maintained appearance.
Prune vines to promote healthy growth.
Spray vines with chemicals to control weeds, pests, fungi, and diseases.
Irrigate the land to support crop growth and maintain soil moisture.
Select and pick grapes based on size and ripeness, discarding damaged or over-ripened fruit.
Load filled grape containers onto trucks for transportation.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Experience in agricultural or vineyard work is a plus but not required.
Ability to perform physical labor in various weather conditions, including rain, cold, direct sunlight, heat, and humidity.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, stand for extended periods, and perform physically demanding tasks such as bending, lifting, kneeling, and reaching.
Effectively communicate and work cooperatively with other staff.
Ability to work unsupervised.
Willingness to learn and follow vineyard best practices.
Ability to operate and maintain farm machinery, equipment, and forklifts is preferred but not required.
Strong attention to detail, especially when selecting and sorting grapes.

Work hours:

Full availability, including weekends and holidays, is required.
