Maintenance & Bottling Line Supervisor – Job Description
Summary:
- Responsible for managing all aspects of the maintenance department including managing the budget and assisting in the design and installation of new systems.
- Oversee the entire bottling process on a production line, ensuring efficient operations, maintaining quality standards and optimizing production schedules.
- Perform a variety of semi-skilled and skilled work in several areas of the building and grounds to repair and maintain buildings, equipment and facilities operated by The Williamsburg Winery.
Organizational Relationship:
- Reports directly to the COO.
- Directly supervise the maintenance and bottling line staff.

- Maintenance Responsibilities:
- Lead the maintenance department in managing all installations, repairs, and upkeep of company’s facilities to include HVAC, property grounds and electrical.
- Maintain machine inventory, plan and budget for repair activities and develop maintenance procedures.
- Maintain maintenance logs and report on daily activities.
- Track expenses and oversee maintenance budget.
- Conduct regular inspections of the facilities to detect and resolve problems.
- Assign repair schedules and evaluate repair cost estimates.
- Oversee equipment inventory and place orders for new supplies when necessary.
- Assist in contract negotiation with outside vendors for execution of maintenance work that is unable to be completed internally.
- Create emergency guidelines, clearly posted at workstations with pictures and concise instructions as needed. Ensure guidelines remain current based on systems and best practices.
- Bottling Line Responsibilities (seasonal):
- This role will oversee various production line equipment/staff ensuring accuracy, efficiency and safe handling.
- Collaborate with management to achieve production goals.
- Sets up and operates production equipment to include quality checks.
- Manage the flow of product through the bottling line, ensuring consistent filling and labeling.
- Optimize production speeds and adjust line settings to maximize efficiency.
- Create production safety guidelines, clearly posted at workstations with pictures and concise instructions as needed.
- Personnel and Administration:
- Directly supervise all maintenance and bottling personnel and establish priorities in schedules to include assigning tasks to team members based on production needs.
- Train staff and keep them well versed in company’s policies and procedures.
- Monitor performance and share feedback with management. Communicate and update goals with employees on a regular basis.
- Encourage and arrange departmental training and development.
- Ensure a proper disciplinary environment is maintained.
- In the event of staff shortage, fill in as necessary.
- Occupational Health and Safety:
- Ensure that the work environment is safe and without risks to the health and safety of all employees. Immediately report any deficiencies to senior management.
- Provide adequate training, information, and supervision to maintain a safe workspace.
- Comply with relevant workplace safety regulations.
- Security:
- Ensure that all equipment and buildings are locked each night to include equipment storage closets, maintenance buildings, and any other facilities that may have been unlocked for inspection and/or repairs.
- Monitor the presence and activities of outside personnel such as contractors and notify the applicable department manager.
